Winter camping has a magical atmosphere all its own: when nature rests beneath a glistening blanket of snow, the fresh Carinthian mountain air wakes you up, and the snow-capped peaks of the Alps glisten in the morning light. Winter Activities in the Area
In winter, the region surrounding the park transforms into a snow-covered winter wonderland that offers the perfect blend of action, nature, and cozy charm for all ages. From strolling through the Christmas markets to winter walks and ice skating on the frozen Weissensee, all the way to winter sports for young and old alike: here, the best of Carinthia lies right at your feet.
The illuminated old towns of Villach and Klagenfurt are perfect for a leisurely stroll. While the children enjoy treats, couples stroll leisurely past the arts-and-crafts stalls with a glass of mulled wine in hand.
When Lake Weissensee freezes over, it becomes Europe’s largest natural ice surface. Here, you can stroll along the ice in the crisp mountain air or venture out onto the ice with your skates on the approximately 25 kilometers of well-maintained ice rinks.
Whether you're an experienced skier or a beginner, the Nassfeld ski area offers 110 kilometers of slopes, and the ski bus takes you directly from the park to the valley station in 20 minutes. If you're looking for a change of pace, head over to the Weissbriach ski area.
